"I was rooting for Lorne right away. There are editing errors that bugged me, like the timeline where he first finds he's pregnant. But that wasn't enough to kill the book for me. What made me sour was the way Jonathan let himself get so involved with his ex girlfriend instead of being there for Lorne when he needed it most. And why was a woman so much a part of an mpreg story? It felt misogynistic, the way Lorne was treated and overlooked even by the supposedly modern alpha who knew all he'd been through. Skip this one if your a real mpreg fan. If not, enjoy the story."

His First Family Victoria Sue 9781795067218 Books Reviews

  • This book has all the feelings- loss, pain, fear, joy, love and hope. Poor Lorne has been mistreated by his birth family and his Alpha pair and understandably has trust issues. Jonathan is an alpha who only wants to help omegas. The story of how they find each other, endure their joint and individual trials, screw up and then find their HEA will keep you absorbed every step of the way. Have tissues and a strong beverage nearby while reading!
  • The first book in this series was a very sweet Christmas story and I loved it very much. Now we have His First Family (you don't need to read book 1 first) and it is just as sweet with a bit of angst and a nice amount of heat.

In this series females can give birth and there are also male omegas who can give birth. However, omegas are generally treated as second class citizens and sometime are more like indentured nannies/slaves who care for children birthed by females. I cried sad tears for Lorne when he was ejected from the home where he had lived for over 20 years, caring for his alpha's children; he wasn't even allowed to say goodbye.

The blurb for the book gives the details of the story so please take a look at it. After a great one-night stand Lorne never expects to see Jonathan again. When they do meet and Jonathan learns that Lorne is having his babies things he said to Lorne the one night they were together come back to bite him. A series of misunderstandings, and Jonathan's witchy ex-girlfriend, cause a lot of friction between Lorne and Jonathan. Both of them need to learn to trust the other but that is easier said than done.

This was really just a very wonderful story and the author's dedication was very moving. Use the "Look inside" feature to read it.

  • 1.5 stars rounded up

    Big miscommunication? Check!
    Poor pathetic omega? Check!
Female who's the "villain" to advance her career? Check!
    Strong yet hapless alpha? Check!

This story lacks originality, has a few typos, and has numerous confusing bits and plot holes. (view spoiler).

Disappointing, as I've read and enjoyed other stories by this author....but this one seems to have been rushed in order to meet a deadline or something.
  • Victoria Sue has, as usual, written a story full of drama, angsty moments and serious feels!
Lorne is a sweet oppressed character who finds himself pregnant and determine to keep it a secret. Jonathan is the doctor at the clinic where Lorne ends up. He's also the babies father.
These two bounce back and forth between one emergency or drama after another but it's done in the best possible way. I never once felt like the dramas and disasters they had to deal with were over the top or unbelievable. But I was anxious a time or two as these guys wove their way through all the landmines while trying to get to know and trust each other. A great story that touches on some tender and sensitive subjects (because premature babies are VERY fragile and things can happen). I highly recommend this one and hope to get to read about some of the wonderful secondary characters too!
  • I got this story on recommendation from another author. I am a huge fan of this author and this story made me even more of one. Heartbreak, new love, misunderstandings and finally a happy ending made me mad, happy and cry all within a few minutes. I can't wait for the next story in the series.

  • I could not put this book down. Lorne just melted my heart from page 1. So hurt, lonely, abused, and has so much love to give but finds it hard to trust. Enter Jonathan who has the same issues but in a different way. This had a unique storyline and backstory that I haven't seen before - omega's contracted to help out with families and then let go when the youngest child turns 15. Heartbreaking! I also enjoyed how the pregnancy was described, differences between males and females. I was like, 'oh, I hadn't thought of that'. Highly recommend!
  • Another great read from Victoria Sue. This story goes from heart-breaking to heart-warming and back again..... what a ride! My heart hurt for Lorne. This world that the author has built is something else! BUT, thankfully it's Victoria Sue, so you know that tho there may be trials and tribulations, the HEA will be there. It was the getting to the HEA that made my heart pound and kept me turning pages to find out what would happen. Looking forward to more of this Alpha/Omega world!
